What is Digital India ?

Digital India is an initiative taken by Government of India to connect all the Rural areas  with high speed Internet and make everything online. Digital India Mission 2020 was launched on 1st July 2015 by Indian Prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi to make India Digital by 2020. It ensures that the all government Services are made available to citizens electronically. Digital Media playing major role in development of a country , so we have to focus on Digital infrastructure to make India Digital. Firstly we have to discuss  about Digital Devices :

There are lot of digital devices available in market so we need to use them mostly as we get chance to use them. Digital India will deliver a real improvement in the quality of life of every citizen in India. Digital India weaves together a large number of ideas and thoughts into a single comprehensive vision.

Mission 2020

The Mission 2020 is to make India Technically advance, through this mission Indian government focusing on advancement of digital technology in rural areas.  This vision is centred on three key areas: creation of digital infrastructure, delivery of governance and services on demand, and digital empowerment of citizens. It includes the ambitious programme National Optic Fibre Network (NOFN), aiming to link India’s 2.5 lakh gram panchayats through over 70,000 km of high speed optic fibre in the next three years ­ thereby enabling over 600 million Indians to harness the benefits of modern communication. NOFN has to be executed with the active partnership of state governments. FlizzIndia has taken initiative to make India’s Largest Educational Portal connecting all schools and colleges each other and make it easy for rural areas to compete with urban areas.


Government has announced the Make in India programme, which complements Digital India by encouraging local and foreign manufacturers to manufacture in India ­ for the domestic market and for exports. Foreign companies should not restrict themselves to back office operations but instead look to manufacturing their high-end products in India. there are lot of things to improve in India , basically we have to learn about digital technology not theoretically but practically. As we all know that the practical knowledge always helps us in future not theoretical so we have to focus on practical things. Now its time to Earn and learn. A two-way platform will be created where both the service providers and the consumers stand to benefit. The scheme will be monitored and controlled by the Digital India Advisory group which will be chaired by the Ministry of Communications and IT. It will be an inter-Ministerial initiative where all ministries and departments shall offer their own services to the public Healthcare, Education,Judicial services etc.

Institutional Mechanism at National Level

The programme management structure for Digital India consists of a Monitoring Committee on Digital India headed by the Prime Minister, a Digital India Advisory Group chaired by the Minister of Communications & IT and an Apex Committee chaired by the Cabinet Secretary. committee

The central ministries/departments and state governments concerned would have the overall responsibility for implementation of various Mission Mode and other projects under the Digital India Programme.
