Introduction
Services Selection Board (SSB) is an organization that assesses the candidates who pass the various entrance exams for the armed services, such as the NDA, CDS, and AFCAT, are called for a five-day selection process and go through a comprehensive evaluation. Here we have discussed the list of SSB
Depending on the wings of the Indian Armed Forces, such as the Army, Air Force, and Navy, there are 14 SSB centers. The Indian Army has services selection boards at Allahabad, Bhopal, Kapoorthala and Bangalore which are responsible for recommending the potential candidates to become Army officers. The Indian navy has naval services selection boards at Bangalore, Bhopal, Kolkata, Vishakhapatnam and Coimbatore. The Indian Air Force has services selection boards at Dehradun, Gandhinagar, Mysore, Guwahati and Varanasi. Depending on the entry via which a candidate is going to join the Indian Armed Forces and this selection procedure after passing the written exam is known as the SSB Interview.
Indian Army SSB Centers
1. Selection Center East Allahabad (Prayagraj): This SSB center was established in 1957. It has Five (5) SSB boards named as 11 SSB, 14 SSB, 18 SSB, 19 SSB and 34 SSB.
2. Selection Center Central, Bhopal: This particular SSB center in Madhya Pradesh came into being in 1975 after the relocation of 20 SSB and 33 SSB, both of which had previously been based in Jabalpur. It has three SSB boards with the following designations: 20 SSB, 21 SSB, and 22 SSB.
3. Selection Centre South, Bangalore: On Cubbon Road in Bangalore, you’ll find the SSB Bangalore. There are currently two boards in SSB Bangalore for the Army’s SSB, namely 17 SSB and 24 SSB, and it is located in the former British quarters.
4. Selection Centre North, Kapurthala: The last SSB centre is situated in Kapurthala which is known as the Selection Centre North. It was raised on July 1st, 2015. The centre became operational from 2016. It is equipped with two SSB boards, numbered 31 SSB and 32 SSB, respectively.
Indian Navy SSB Centers
1. Navy Selection Board, Coimbatore: This board is meant to take SSB Interview for the candidates opting for Indian Navy. Generally the candidates for 10+2 Cadet Entry for Navy are called for SSB interview in NSB. NSB has all the facilities to give the candidates a wonderful and relaxing stay.
2. 12 SSB at SCS Bangalore: In Bangalore, Indian Navy has 12 SSB Selection Centre South. The selection board holds SSB interviews in order to hire Navy officers. Candidates can join the Indian Navy through the NDA & NA test, CDS exam, and other entries in addition to the Logistics, Education, Submarine, Pilot, and 10+2 B. Tech. admissions.
3. 33 SSB at SCC Bhopal: Bhopal, not only has an SSB centre for Indian Army but also for accessing interview of aspirants for Naval Officers.
4. SSB Kolkata: Indian Navy’s first full-fledged Services Selection Board (SSB) was inaugurated on 14 May 2019 at Diamond Harbour, near Kolkata.SSB (Kolkata) is located approximately 55 km away from central Kolkata, on land that was previously occupied by a Naval Coastal Battery. This Service Selection Board of the Indian Navy is for both Permanent and Short Service Commission officers.
5. Naval Selection Board, Visakhapatnam: The board’s objectives are to appoint new officers to the force and to encourage more local kids to support the white uniform.
Indian Air Force SSB Centers
1. AFSB Dehradun: At the Dehradun Forest Research Institution, which eventually became the institute, an Experimental Selection Board was first constituted in 1943. In March 1944, the Board changed its name to the No. 7 General Selection Board; it later adopted the name Royal Indian Air Force Board. It moved to its current location in Clement Town on October 1948. The selection committee has been given a new name: the Royal Indian Air Force Selection Board. It unmistakably adopted the identity of the Air Force Selection Board after January 26, 1950. After Mysore was subsequently formed as 2 AFSB, the unit was rechristened as 1 AFSB in 1962.
2. AFSB Mysore: AFSB or Air Force Selection Board is located in CV Complex, Sidharth Nagar of Mysore. The SSB interviews for NDA and CDSE are also conducted here, also the PABT test for IAF candidates who have their SSB in Selection Center South, Bangalore are conducted here.
3. AFSB Gandhi Nagar: Prior to AFSB Guwahati, AFSB Gandhi Nagar North is the list’s most recent addition. Inauguration took place in 2012. 3 AFSB Gandhi Nagar is situated in Gandhinagar’s Sector 9, which also serves as the headquarters of the Indian Air Force’s South Western Air Command. The AFSB’s primary function is to assess candidates according to predetermined standards. A candidate must pass this level after passing written tests like the AFCAT, NDA, CDS, etc.
4. AFSB Varanasi: On the list of busiest SSB centers is the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB). It is situated in Varanasi, a city of Uttar Pradesh. It was setup in Patna in 1963 moved to Varanasi in 1964.
5. AFSB Guwahati: The AFSB Guwahati center conducts the selection process for candidates from the northeastern states of India, including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura. The AFSB Guwahati is located at Lokhra Road, Kahilipara, Guwahati. The selection process at AFSB Guwahati is similar to that of other AFSB centers and includes a series of tests and interviews to evaluate the candidates’ potential for commissioning into the Indian Air Force.
